Bachelor’s degree – first cycle study

major: Translation studies
The student acquires language skills in English language, in accordance with the requirements set for the level of at least C1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. The student can translate from English and to English texts written and spoken, is prepared for individual and team translation activities. The student acquires skills needed to identify and correct any kind of translation errors and has a habit of analysis and evaluation of methods of translation.
The studies enable the student to develop proficiency in English language as a basic communication tool in international contacts, and also prepare graduates to work as teachers of English, providing the student with appropriate pedagogical training. The study program was developed taking into account both the ancient traditions of European universities, as well as the latest global methods of glottodidactics . It allows student not only to master a foreign language, but also learn its scientific description of grammar, its use in literature and professional integrity and its cultural background.

The graduate knows how to apply the art of translation. The graduate is able to extract a variety of methods and styles. The graduate has knowledge on linguistic theory of translation, stylistics in translation studies. The graduate knows and can use methods and translation techniques depending on their type. Examples of jobs include: local government institutions, multinationals, international institutions, translation offices. The graduate can work as an English teacher in primary schools and in language schools.

The graduate will specialize in the field of literature, linguistics, culture, media and history of Great Britain, as well as practical knowledge of the English language. Graduates will be able to cooperate with the media, magazines, advertising companies and cultural institutions, as well as in education and business, requiring specialized language skills. The knowledge and skills gained from the study will help them in the activities of international cooperation. The graduate can work as an English teacher in primary schools and in language schools.
